So, here we are again in the annual post TT slump for another year. After two weeks of gigs, late nights and bad diets, the island has once again fallen quiet. Well, almost!

Fresh from two weeks worth of intensive TT gigs, which also included a support slot to Scouting For Girls at their recent sold out appearance at the new Hooded Ram Festival, local singer songwriter, Ian Thompson is out for two shows this coming weekend.

Featuring a setlist of classics from The Kinks, David Bowie, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, R.E.M, and the like in his setlist, he and the band head out to his now regular slots at The Creek in Peel on Friday and Jaks Bar in Douglas on Saturday night.

Ian will also be playing a selection of tracks from his latest album "New World" which was released via U.S. label, The Spectra Music Group, late last year.

Speaking of the album, the first single to be lifted from the album, a track entitled ’Gameboy’ was released just two weeks ago.

The single can be purchased from Apple Music via itunes.

Another band that is now very much a regular on the Manx live scene is The Devil Note.

Featuring Simon Campbell on guitar with Suzy Starlite on bass and both sharing the vocal duties, the band very much touts itself as a nod to the British Blues and Rock explosion of the 60’s.

Expect cuts from the likes of John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, Eric Clapton, Humble Pie, Cream and Free alongside pieces by Focus, B.B. King, ZZ Top, David Bowie and T-Rex.

The band heads to Sam Webb’s in Douglas this Saturday night from 9.30pm.

The band has a number of further live dates over the summer and into the Autumn and further information can be found at Facebook.com/the.devil.note

Elsewhere, Konstruktion is also out and about.

The two piece band made up by Joy White on vocals and Nige B on keys and vocals have their roots in live versions of dance anthems from the modern chart to ’old skool’ classics.

If a little bit of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Rihanna and Lady GaGa at one end through to Diana Ross and Tina Turner at the other end of the spectrum takes your fancy then this will be well worth a look at when they hit Jaks in Douglas on Friday night and The Haven in Port Erin on Saturday.
