The family of a seven-year-old girl who tragically died earlier this year have released a statement dedicated to their angel.
Sophie Moolman died from acute myocarditis at Noble’s Hospital on March 29.
Acute myocarditis is a rare, vicious and, especially in children, often missed virus, with symptoms presenting as ones commonly attributed to other, less deadly illnesses and viruses.
Her mother, Samantha Moolman, said: ’Sophie’s family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their overwhelming support, kind words, donations and memorials for Sophie in what has been a tragically heartbreaking time.
’Words cannot do her justice, but Sophie was such a bright shining light and even at such a young age managed to touch so many people with her exuberant personality and kindness.’
Sophie attended Scoill yn Jubliee in Douglas and was a New Year’s baby, having been born on January 1, 2011.
She had also recently become a big sister to baby Isla Jane, who was born in January this year.
During Sophie’s inquest, Coroner John Needham said: ’It is clear Sophie was a bright, clever and fun-loving girl who dearly loved her family and was dearly loved by her family.’
Ms Moolman added: ’Our baby angel will be remembered for always.’
