An amateur production of The Sound of Music is to be performed in the island soon.

Douglas Choral Union (DCU) will be perfoming many recognisable songs such as ’So Long Farewell’, ’Do-re-mi’ and ’My Favourite Things’.

The story of the Von Trapps and their governess, Maria, will be told by an all-local cast, including many young people from Friday, February 14.

Tony Jones, chairman of Douglas Choral Union, said: ’Rehearsals are well underway and excitement is building among the cast, particularly for the younger members, some of who will be performing on the Gaiety Theatre stage for the very first time! Tickets are available from the Villa Gaiety Box Office now, so don’t delay in getting yours.’

The Steam Packet gave DCU discounted ferry travel to transport show costumes and the set to and from the island,.
