Three days of live music and festivities will accompany the thrilling bike action in the north of the island during TT week this year.

’Sprintfest’ will take place around the Market Square area of Ramsey between Mad Sunday, which falls on June 2, and Tuesday, June 4, and will feature a host of local live acts and music.

The nights are organised into three different styles of concerts, with Sunday being classed as an ’easy listening night’, with the Southern States on stage first, followed by the Tides.

Monday will have a hard rock theme, and will feature the groups Boneyard and A Little Bit O’Rosie, and the final Tuesday night will be a general covers-band night, with Caution Runners and the Ramsey-based 80s rock group Jester’s Dead bringing the party to a close.

There will also be other street entertainment acts on each night, the names of which will be released closer to the event.

Organised by Juan McGuinness and the Ramsey Commissioners, the three-day street festival will accompany the existing two days of high-speed action at the Mooragh Park, where the Straightliners will be holding their usual days on Mad Sunday and the Ramsey Sprint day itself on Tuesday.

Juan said that he hopes that Sprintfest will give something for TT fans and locals alike to enjoy outside of Douglas.

’I am hopeful that this is the start of a major attraction in TT, not just for Ramsey but for the whole island for years to come, giving both locals and visitors an option away from Douglas and to give Ramsey the opportunity to show what a great place it is to visit and live in,’ said Juan.

’The line-up of bands showcases the talent we have in the island and over the three nights provides something for everyone - from easy to cheesy!

’The Market Square has the potential to be one of the best open-air gig venues around and I hope the bands enjoy playing out over the square and harbour as much as the crowds will love listening to them.’

There are also plans to have a range of Manx music outside the Old Courthouse building during the day time.

The commissioners would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in taking part.
