This morning’s Steam Packet sailing from Douglas to Heysham has been cancelled because of stormy weather.

This evening’s is in doubt too.

There was also no sailing last night, which means there will be no UK national newspapers in the shops today.The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain, gales and overtopping.The Curraghs Wildlife Park will be closed today due to the severe weather and risk of falling branches. It is expected it will open as usual tomorrow.The forecast from the Met Office:

Windy today, with the south or southwest winds strengthening this morning to become gale or severe gale force, giving gusts of around 60 mph, before easing through the late afternoon and evening. Some damage and travel disruption is possible, with splash over of waves at high tide (11:20 am). Heavy rain at first will clear away around late morning, leaving the afternoon and evening mainly dry with only isolated showers. Maximum temperature 13 Celsius.

More rain and gales will develop tonight, but these will clear early tomorrow morning to leave dry conditions for a time, before further rain arrives in the afternoon. The winds tomorrow will soon become strong southwesterlies.

Unsettled at first next week, but becoming progressively quieter as the week goes on.
