A steam train was damaged when a tree fell down in Ballabeg on New Year’s Eve.

The incident caused damage to the windows on some carriages, which occurred on the dining train event.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for the DoI said: ‘A repair team attended within 30 minutes of the incident, they removed the tree and the train returned to Douglas.’

This led to the cancellation of the first two brunch trains of 2023 and the magicians tea party will be moved to the ticket hall.

Customers hit by the cancellations and amendments are being contacted directly.
