Six stroke survivors were supported by friends and families in a walking fundraiser at Mooragh Park, Ramsey.
The Step Out for Stroke campaign saw participants join in a series of mile long walks around the British Isles, to celebrate survivors who are rebuilding their lives and to raise funds for Stroke Association.
Those who took part in the island’s walk have so far raised £330.
This year the initiative celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
It drew similarities between the first man to walk on the moon with those proving that they can overcome their own challenges during stroke recovery.
’Just as people once thought walking on the moon was impossible, many people still don’t think that you can recover from stroke,’ the charity stated.
The Step Out for Stroke event aimed at having each participant raising at least £50 to fund work supporting stroke survivors and their loved ones.
The annual walk was suitable for any level of walking ability, it was wheelchair accessible and participants could walk at their own pace, in their own time.
