The weather forecast from the Met Office:
Strong to gale force southerly winds this morning, giving gusts of 50 to 60 mph in places, with patchy drizzle being replaced by heavy rain around 10 or 11 o’clock. However, during the early to mid afternoon the rain will clear away as winds swing westerly and ease. Temperatures around 10 Celsius.
Tonight will be dry at first, before strengthening winds and outbreaks of rain develop later. Then tomorrow will see further rain at times, with strong to gale force south or southwest winds. Low cloud, mist and hill fog will affect much of the island, but the north may see some bright intervals allowing temperatures to reach a very mild 14 Celsius.
A much quieter day on Wednesday, dry and bright with fairly light winds.
