Stuart Edwin Pain of St John’s has gained the best student award at the Sheffield Hallam University Department of Engineering and Maths.

Stuart, aged 26, is a mature student who is studying for an MSc in aerospace engineering.

The best student award recognises the outstanding work he has done in his third year, and the award is sponsored by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

The award was presented at Sheffield Hallam’s prize giving ceremony on November 14.

Stuart is a former pupil of Queen Elizabeth II High Schoolin Peel. He worked as an assembly technician for Triumph Actuation Systems in Onchan, also studying part-time for a BTEC at the Isle of Man College.
