The annual Hogg charity auction again proved a success with around 150 supporters braving the rain to attend.

The event, at the Palace Hotel in Douglas, was compered by TT and MGP commentator Roy Moore, along with Shaun Hogg who acted as auctioneer.

’It was good. Everything went well and we are still sorting out bits and pieces from the night,’ said Shaun, who, along with other members of his family spends the months running up to the auction collecting and co-ordinating the various lots to be sold.

’We don’t yet have a final figure but I estimate that it will be between £6,500 and £7,000 raised.’

The money is raised in memory of Shaun’s brother Phil who died in an accident during the 1989 TT practices at Ballagarey and helps pay for the Phil Hogg rescue ambulances and medical equipment used around the TT course, S100 and other motorsport events in the island.

The auction featured an array of memorabilia, mostly motorsport related, including a fine selection of framed photographs and paintings, as well as branded clothing, helmets and souvenirs.

Top money for a single lot came from a four-day break in the Lake District, donated by Dave and Suzanne Williams, which eventually sold for £440. Some of the framed photographs also commanded good prices with many yielding over £100. Two Kawasaki branded watches together raised £300.

Other star lots included some books produced by Yamaha that are not on general sale in the shops. Motor spares shop Motaworld on Cooil Road made a donation of £1,030 to the charity. The shop raised the money by recycling car batteries.

Shaun thanked the Palace Hotel and staff, along with Roy Moore and everyone else who helped out, donated or attended and bid for items in the sale.
