Proceeds from a charity mission to help Syrian refugees have been handed over at Bilbo’s cafe in Ramsey.
Travelling marshal Jim Hunter, along with racers Ian Pert and Ronnie Russell, took a vanload of relief items to the Syria-Turkey border at the end of February.
At the same time, they set up a Just Giving internet page asking for support.
Jim and Ronnie were both present for the handover, which comprised £500 each for the Manx Grand Prix Supporters’ Club, the ACU Benevolent Fund, the Kent air ambulance and the Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund.
One thousand pounds was also donated to support Syrian refugees.
Bilbo’s cafe and the memorial fund were set up by racer Billy Redmayne’s family in his memory.
The Kent air ambulance helped Jim’s son, Jack, after a road accident last year. The ACU Benevolent Fund and the MGP Supporters’ Club both offer support to injured riders.
