Just like the first lockdown, this one is characterised by local food producers, growers, restaurants and suppliers quickly adapting to offering takeaway, click- and- collect and home delivery services.

We have rounded up information about some of the best of what is on offer so you can stay safe while still enjoying great local food.

At Versa, in Port Erin, Pippa Lovell had been looking forward to a fully booked January for her evening meals in her new location.

She said: ’We only just opened after a super tough year and we are determined to keep on providing our service in this wonderful, resilient and kind community.’

Pippa has now switched her wonderfully imaginative brunches to takeaway.

The 100% Manx menu lists dishes including crab, potato, sea beets and poached egg; beef, ricotta and onion galette and warm pretzel, cheese and pickles.

Pippa said: ’We also do dinner packages which people can order: they just give us a budget and their dietary requirements and a collection time.

’The dishes are surprise, because everyone’s bored right now.

’And there’s free Manx roast coffee for passers-by on your daily winter walk, just make sure you bring a reusable cup.’

Pippa also echoed the thoughts of every local café and restaurant when she added: ’We need and really value our customers’ support in ticking over the business until we can reopen in full.’

Dreambird in Victoria Street, Douglas, is another venue with a focus on local meat and produce.

It is open for takeaways Tuesday to Saturday lunchtimes and 5pm to 8.30pm in the evening.

Their burger-based menu includes double bacon burger and plant power, a vegan burger.

Owner Phil Taylor said: ’It keeps the wheels turning and hopefully provides something the customer wants.’

Close Leece Farm Shop started an island-wide delivery service and expanded their range to include everyday grocery products during the first lockdown and they have carried on since.

Owner Tracey Ridgway told us: ’We are delivering Close Leece Farm products (including eggs, bacon, sausages and charcuterie), those from other premium island producers, plenty of treats (including a wide range of alcohol), fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and bakery items and some other basic groceries.

’We are doing island-wide doorstep deliveries (all of course socially distanced) on Tuesday and Saturdays.

’There is also an option to pick up pre-orders in person from the shop and we have a procedure in place so that this can be done safely without contact.’

The Alpine online store is up and running and stocked with salads and tarts and Ross Bakery goods.

Orders close on Wednesdays at 5pm for the Friday collection and Sunday’s at 5pm for the Wednesday collection.

As well as loaves and cakes the range includes pulled pork buns, Portuguese tarts and a mixed Alpine salad for a healthy filling lunch.

Robinson’s offer home delivery on a wide range of items including fresh fish, meat and vegetables, dairy products, groceries, frozen food and Noa Bakehouse bread.

There’s a minimum £50 order but you can literally do a whole week’s shopping here - including loo rolls.

Andreas Meats is the place to go for island-wide delivery of Manx beef, lamb, pork and chicken and their own range of bacon, sausages and cold ham, along with whole chicken and chicken breasts: available separately or in meat packs ideal for the freezer.

Their streaky bacon is hard to beat for a crispy bacon sandwich and they also offer gluten free sausages.

Fynoderee has a small socially distanced team at work in the distillery keeping the gin and vodka production going and they are offering free postage on all website orders to any Isle of Man or UK address.

As well as single bottles of spirits you can also order a ’lockdown survival kit’.

This ’survival kit’ includes the Fynitiser, the hand sanitiser the company produced during the last lockdown; a 70cl bottle of Fynoderee Manx dry gin or vodka and a case of Fever Tree tonic water.

Isle of Man Farmers’ Markets is continuing to operate following the strict government guidelines in St John’s on a Thursday and Ramsey on a Saturday.

Social distancing will be in place along with a one-way system. Only one family member per shopping trip.

Bry Rad’s Fresh Veg Shed will be open as usual on Saturday mornings in Ramsey.

Kermelly’s are also open with a selection of seafood, cheese, game, charcuterie, Ross Bakery bread, soups and takeaway food available.
