A talk about walking in the Himalaya in Nepal is going to take place in Dalby next month.
Sulby School teacher Jude Needham will be speaking about a trek in which she took part, when she camped on glaciers and visited remote villages.
She will show photos of the Dhaulagiri district, the eighth highest mountain in the world.
She will also show the film she made during her trip to Kathmandu, visiting the Kumbeshwar Technical School (KTS), a fair trade knitwear producer that train and employs more than 3,000 women and runs a primary school, a children’s hostel and a carpentry course. It also supplies Shakti Man in Ramsey with some of its produce.
The evening, at Dalby schoolrooms on Saturday, March 3, at 7.30pm, will also focus on fair trade issues.
St James Dalby is a fairtrade church and supports and promotes the sale of Fairtrade produce throughout the year.
Fair trade refreshments with home-cooked fair trade food will be available, as well as items to buy from the Dalby Fairtrade Cupboard Shop.
There’s no admission charge but, after costs, proceeds from the raffle and donations on the door will go to support the work of KTS.
