Three different Manx folk dance groups joined forces to perform on the St John’s fair field during the Tynwald Day celebrations.

Both the adults and children from the groups Perree Bane and Skeddan Jiarg, along with members of the Manx Folk Dance Society put on a grand display of traditional dancing, once the official Tynwald ceremony had finished, with more than 60 dancers, some as young as three years old, taking part.

The dancers were backed by a troupe of musicians including Jamie Smith, David Kilgallon, John Rhodes, Kirtsy Lawrence and more.

The folk dancing was followed by a display of modern and contemporary dance performed by Gena’s Dance Academy.

Several groups ran through a series of eye-catching routines outside the festival marquee from 3pm.

Hundreds still stayed around towards the end of the day to take part in a lively and spirited Ceili, led by the Kipperceili band.

The memorable day was brought to a traditional end with a performance on Tynwald Hill by the Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums.
