A new television advertising campaign aims to promote the joy of holidaying in the Isle of Man.
The series of advertisements will run in Scotland and the North West of England until the end of June.
Specific television programmes will be targeted, with some adverts being shown during the ITV4 television coverage, while the first went out at the weekend in the Scottish and Granada regions during Britain’s Got Talent.
Rom Kesa, chairman of the Visitor Economy Committee in the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce said the campaign had their backing.
’Following previous years of proven success of TV advertising during the run-up of the TT, the Visitor Economy Committee fully supports the decision to continue with the same format in 2017.
’It is imperative for our island to get the positive message out there and to capitalise on the nationwide interest of motorsports and TT in particular.
’We have so much to offer and using TV advertising is a great way to reach our target audience.’
The adverts are targeted to the island’s audience profiles set out in the government’s Destination Management Plan, with the channels, programmes and times specifically chosen to make the most effective use of the campaign.
A statement from the government’s Department of Economic Development said the regions selected linked directly to the promotion of new air routes in Scotland and are intended to appeal to the visitor market coming from the north of England.
Rob Callister MHK, political member at the department with responsibility for tourism and motorsport said: ’The new campaign forms part of our tourism marketing for 2017 which also includes digital and public relations activity.
The campaign supports the Programme for Government which commits to targeting new markets using cross-platform marketing campaigns to promote the Isle of Man as a visitor destination.’
