Two terrapins were found dumped at Scarlett quarry, in Castletown.

The Manx Wildlife Trust said it was concerned there was a growing trend to release these ’probably unwanted and oversized pets’ into ponds and waterways.

It said it would have a negative impact on Manx wildlife as with no natural predator, they would become top of the food chain. It would also cause the terrapins stress and suffering.

Any sightings should be reported to DEFA and Vannin Reptilia,a reptile rescue charity.
