Tickets for the debut appearance by a Scottish pop-rock group in the island go on sale tomorrow from 10am.
Texas, the million-selling, chart-topping group, are set to play at the Villa Marina for the first time on Saturday, October 3.
The long-running group are due to release an as-yet untitled new album later this year and will be kicking off their 25-date UK tour in the Isle of Man before heading over to Belfast for a huge concert at the Waterfront Hall.
The tour will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album ’Southside’, which the group will perform in its entirety.
Texas have enjoyed a lengthy 30-year career, most of it spent at the highest level of the UK pop-rock scene.
Formed by singer Sharleen Spiteri and the former Altered Images bassist Jim McElhone, the group’s first single, ’I Don’t Want a Lover’, became a huge, global hit in 1989 and helped propel ’Southside’ to the higher reaches of the albums charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
Further success came their way with their mutli-platinum selling album ’White On Blonde’, in 1997, which saw the group score several further international hit singles, such as ’Halo’, ’Black Eyed Boy’ and ’Say What You Want’.
Tickets are £48.50 for downstairs standing and £50 for upstairs seating and are available from the Welcome Centre and the Villa Gaiety box office, on 600555, and online from villagaiety.com.
