Among the events reported in the London Manx Society’s newsletter is the death of longtime member, Clare Crellin, 72. She joined while working in London, and since then ran a psychotherapy clinic in Ramsey, having also volunteered in this capacity for the hospice.
The society’s next meeting and annual general meeting will take place on either March 21 or 28, after a lunchtime concert at St Martin’s-in-the-Fields.
Other news mentioned including the winning of an Emmy award by actress Hannah Waddingham, daughter of Melodie Waddingham (*ée Kelly) from Port Erin, for her performance in Apple TV’s ’Ted Lasso’.
It also reports on how the Isle of Man was exhibited in the recent Australian Celtic fringe festival.
Children in New South Wales were able to enjoy a life-sized recreation of the Fairy Bridge (and a smaller Tynwald Hill) made by the local men in sheds collective, a craft marquee where they could learn about Manx Folklore stories, and have a go at a traditional Hunt The Wren Dance.
Imported Manx goods were also on sale, and a message from the society’s president Alastair Kneale read out.
