A two day celebration of the diversity of the population of the Isle Of Man returns again later this year

The Our Island Our World festival will once again take place in Peel on Friday and Saturday, August 30 and 31 , and will feature a line up of top world music groups.

This year line up will include the Balkan and ska fusion group the Baghdaddies, the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band and the Roma/Serbian folk and roots group Faith I Branko will all feature, alongside Agbeko, an 11-piece Afro-beat group from Manchester and the Gambian kora player Jally Kebba Susso.

They will be joined by the local latin and swing group, Lava, featuring Christy De Haven on vocals, who will perform an especially-selected set of latin and south american music.

Both concerts will take place during the evening at the Peel Centenary Centre.

Another returning feature of the festival will be a day of cultural activities, held in the Corrin Hall and the grounds of the Peel Cathedral.

The free afternoon, which proved to be a popular event during last year’s festival, will again feature live music and dancing, global food stalls, craft workshops, folk and traditional dancing and other cultural activities.
