Old Christmas decorations, fabric off-cuts, recycled newspapers, discarded ties and breakfast rubbish were all used to create pieces of fashion at the recent wearable art fashion show.
Held at the Kensington Road Youth Arts Centre, in Douglas, last weekend, the Manx Wearable art show saw more than 40 creations paraded on the catwalk, along with a stunning collection of wool clothing, created by the students at the University College Isle of Man.
This was a repeat of a show they created for a recent wool exhibition, and their costumes were completed with outlandish animal-inspired hairstyles.
Organiser Sue Robinson was delighted with the response to the show.
’We had everything from plastics to rubbish, and recycled ties to charity shop finds,’ she said.
’We never know what we are going to see at this show, and it is always a surprise on the night. But we all had a great night, and everyone who took part came up trumps.’
