A theatre supper in Laxey on Friday evening raised £250 for local charity Isle of Man Breast Care.

The Legion Players brought their production of Gill Medway’s A National Treasure to The Institute at the invitation of Garff MHK Daphne Caine.

Stephanie Quayle delivered the modern monologue in the play directed by Olga Gray.

Mrs Caine said: ’It was a hugely enjoyable evening. I am very grateful to Stephanie, Olga and all who supported us on Friday night.

’We are lucky to have such a versatile facility as The Institute in Laxey and I hope there will be more shows like this one in the future.’

Isle of Man Breast Care is a small charity and support group run since 1997 by volunteers, all of whom have experienced breast cancer themselves.

It has two 24-hour helplines and talk to patients over the phone or at home, take them to clinic appointments and accompany them to UK hospitals if they need assistance.

Last year they gave out £11,000 in financial assistance to provide a lifeline to breast cancer patients until they got back on their feet.
