With no racing on the Mountain Course on Tuesday, thousands of bike enthusiasts headed north for the famous Ramsey Sprint.

Held on the closed road of Mooragh Promenade, the popular event returned in its usual format for the first time since 2019.

Bikers were encouraged to sign up to the drag sprint, with anyone able to compete in the 200 metre sprint along Mooragh Prom, next to Mooragh Park.

The event took place all day, with roads closing at 9am for a 10am start to proceedings, and finishing at 5pm.

There was also a Mad Sunday Sprint, also taking place on the one eighth mile track in Ramsey, with a large crowd lining out to see races unfold.

At the event on Tuesday, the street legal unlimited cc class saw the largest number of entries ever in the competition, with Richard Renton-Cooper coming out winner with a time of 7.07 seconds, followed closely by Kevin Kearsley with a 7.26 second run, and third was Scott Collier with a time of 7.27 seconds.

In the competition unlimited cc class the top 4 times were all in the low 6 second bracket, with Phil Wood coming out winner with a 6.19 second run, followed by both Stu Harvey and Mark Patman who posted identical times of 6.25 seconds, only being separated by highest speeds, with Stu Harvey’s 125mph being compared to Mark Patman’s 122mph. Colin Bridson finished fourth with a 6.33 second run.

In the street legal up to 900cc class, Pep Quist pipped Schantelle Thorpe to take top spot late in the day.
