The number of people out of work has risen.
The government’s February figures show there were three more people registered as unemployed compared with a month earlier.
There were a total of 371 on the register. But that’s two down on the same month last year.
A toal of 267 of those registered as unemployed are males (72%) and 104 are females (28%).
A total of 115 people signed onto the unemployment register, with 112 people leaving it in February.
The net movement was a increase of three people on the register between February and January. The unemployment rate for February is 0.9%, which remains the same as the previous month.
Throughout the month the Job Centre was notified of 676 job vacancies. By the end of February, 487 remained.
About 58% (281) were full time positions and 42% (206) were part time.
An International Labour Organisation estimate is given in the report, stating that overall 816 individuals were unemployed and looking for work in February, compared with 813 in January.
This amounts to an unemployment rate of 1.9%.
The sector with highest numbers of job vacancies remaining is ’Catering and Entertainment’, with 73 roles available.
