The civic amenity sites will begin opening today (Friday).

The eastern and western sites will open at 8am on Friday and the northern and southern sites at 10am on Saturday.

The northern site will operate on an appointments system and will take only burnable and green waste. To make an appointment use its website or ring 810100.

The eastern, southern and western sites will operate on a queuing system using the roadway leading to the site.

opening

The opening hours and the types of waste that can be disposed of may vary, but they will all take burnable household waste and green waste.

However, this is not business as usual. To avoid an unnecessary journey, people should ring their local authority or check its website or Facebook page for details.

Employees on the site will obey social distancing guidelines, so there will be a restricted number of vehicles on site.

The ’re-use’ sheds will remain closed for the time being but the recycling banks around the island will open on Friday.

Ramsey Commissioners are providing an extra refuse collection which will be provided to all households in the town during the week from April 17 to May 1.

The authority hopes it will help those who do not have the means to get to a civic amenity site, are self-isolating or wishing to maintain social distancing, and will reduce the demand on the northern civic amenity site.
