The massive volcanic eruption in Tonga at the weekend was measurable at Ronaldsway Airport’s Met Office.
The pressure wave from the explosion and was detected in the Met Office’s barometer data.
A first anomaly appeared around 7pm on Saturday, and the second (the wave that travelled the other way around the globe) at 2am Sunday.
The pressure wave had travelled the 10,000 miles from the other side of the world, in around 14 hours or so - in the region of 700mph.
