With a new album under his belt and new material on offer, a regular visitor is returning to the island at the end of this month.
The wandering Texan troubadour and, quite possibly, the most smartly dressed man in music today, Jarrod Dickenson, is winding his way back to the island, courtesy of Jonno Promotions, to play a series of shows, one at the Laxey Working Men’s Institute, Laxey, on Friday, March 31, and also for a special night of food, music and general foolery at Noa Bakehouse, Douglas on Saturday, April 1.
Jarrod is definitely no stranger to these shores, with the singer/songwriter travelling here to perform on no less than four previous occasions. Many have already been left spellbound by his quiet understated singing voice and his mellow, almost languid songs that conjure up images of life in the dusty, southern American states, while being captivated by his meticulous image. Suited and booted in a sharp, well-dressed style, and with his trademark stylish goatee and stetson hat, he look every inch the Southern gentleman.
He will be joined by fellow American JP Ruggieri, who will be playing both alongside Jarrod onstage and as support for both nights.
Jarrod is currently touring the UK and Europe in support of his new album, ’Ready The Horses’, and Jarrod said that he is excited to be coming back to the island once more and is looking forward to playing some of his new songs.
’I love playing intimate, quirky places, and the Isle of Man is certainly both intimate and quirky,’ said Jarrod.
’The people on the island have always been very welcoming to me and my music, so it’s a joy to keep coming back.
’It is the people that stand out the most. I’ve met so many interesting and talented folks in my trips to the island. Artists, photographers, guitar builders. There’s something about the place that obviously encourages creativity.’
He is also looking forward to showing off the island to his friend and bandmate, Ruggieri.
’JP is a phenomenal guitarist, and will be joining me on stage, but he’s also a top notch songwriter,’ said Jarrod.
’He’ll be opening the shows with a set of his own material, and trust me, you’re in for a treat. As for my own show, we’ll absolutely be playing songs from the new record, as well as old favourites.’
Entry for the Laxey concert is £15, and the Noa Bakehouse evening is £25
Tickets for both nights are available from etickets.im
