Michael Dunlop won his second Lightweight TT in succession, and his 19th overall.

It was the 50th win for the Dunlop dynasty in total since his uncle Joey won the Schweppes Classic in 1977.

Paton-mounted Dunlop led by four seconds from Jamie Coward at Ramsey on lap one, but Coward got the drop on the Ballymoney man on the descent to Cronk-ny-Mona and led by 0.748s at half-distance.

At Ballaugh on lap two, Coward looked to have his maiden TT win in his sights with a lead of six tenths of a second on the SB Tuning Kawasaki, but Dunlop had turned it around by Ramsey Hairpin where he was back in front by 1.4s.

It was close all the way to the finish, with Coward within seven tenths of the Ulsterman at Cronk-ny-Mona.

But Dunlop held on to take the win by 1.299s from Coward, with Lee Johnston third on the KMR Kawasaki.

Paul Jordan and Michael Rutter were fourth and fifth, with NW200 winner Stefano Bonetti completing the top six on the second Paton.

The leading Norton Superlite was eighth in the hands of Peter Hickman.

Local sports therapist John Barton had a good ride to finish 13th and Maria Costello completed a unique double by finishing a sidecar and solo TT finish in the same day.
