Judging by the crowds who have packed into the Villa Marina gardens every night, Bushy’s new festival-style venue was a runaway success.
Having just one way in and out of the TT Village has meant that Martin Brunnschweiler and his team have been able to keep an accurate count of the number of people visiting.
Martin explained: ’Our capacity is 4,000 but at busy times we’ve had to close the doors and operate a one out one in.
’We’re very pleased.
’Initially relief was the main emotion as there were worries about whether people would like the new site or not but it’s been very reassuring.
’We steered away from having headline acts so we could keep it free which meant people could come and go as they pleased.’
The large numbers of people in the TT Village every night has meant a few problems.
Martin acknowledged: ’We’ve spotted things we want to tweak and improve on next year and we apologise for any delays at the bar and the toilets.’
But overall the venue’s popularity has meant that it will definitely be making a return next year, Martin confirmed.
Martin said: ’We have also been approached by lots of interesting pop-ups who want to join us next year so the "Village Mark 2" will be even better.’
He paid tribute to everyone who has been working there over TT: ’It’s been a massive team effort. Everyone has played an important part including the Villa Marina and their staff and I want to say thank you to all of them - they all deserve a pat on the back.’
And he added: ’It’s just lovely that people have followed us and, more importantly, seem to enjoy what we’ve done.’
