Hector Neill, who has been associated with the TT for years, has signed original copies of his recording Joey Song.
Mr Neill, who owns TAS Racing and has been involved in the sport for more than 50 years, signed DVDs based on the late Joey Dunlop, who lost his life in 2000 during a motorcycling race in Estonia.
The event took place at the TT Motorsport Merchandise Store on the corner of Wellington Street and Duke Street.
Helen Stuart, who is Hector Neill’s partner, said the idea was formed many years ago when Hector and Mike Keery decided to dedicate the song to their friend, Joey.
’Joey used to ride bikes for Hector and both men had connections with him, so they decided to write it as a tribute. Someone put the recording up on Youtube and it got around 100,000 hits.
’They decided that maybe it should be put out to the local people and have chosen to donate part of what is raised towards the Helicopter Fund.
’Hector was astonished that people were interested in the song. He’s a very humble person.
’The signing has given Hector good exposure and the mechandise store has given us great support, letting us be there to sign copies.’
Mr Neil will continue to sign the DVDs in Northern Ireland next week and will be releasing a book about his life story in 2018.
