A team of paranormal investigators from England have been in the island filming for a TV series due to be shown on Sky later this year.

The team, Sefton Paranormal Investigations, comprising Pam Southwood, Alan Mee, Julie Coyle and Aaron Robinette filmed over two nights at Milntown House, in Ramsey.

The four may seem an unlikely team: Pam is Aaron’s mother and Alan and Julie are cousins, but all of them say their belief in the paranormal stems from experiences they had themselves which left them seeking answers.

Aaron told the Examiner that the group came to the island in part because they have been working together for 10 years and wanted to branch out from their England base.

He said: ’We all have family commitments and other things, so the island was ideal as it has such a rich history but it so close.’

Alan added: ’Since we got here the locals have been telling us about these myths and legends, so we want to look at these legends and see what is really going on? What is the real truth?’

Aaron described their investigations as a ’shot in the dark’.

He explained: ’We have a basic structure as to how we work a night’s investigation, but it isn’t fake, we’re just interested in exploring the paranormal. Sometimes we get results, other times we get nothing at all.’

Pam said that having decided to come to the island, Milntown ’just stood out’.

She had considered Castle Rushen too, but said ’something just clicked and we struck gold coming here’.

The filming took place over two nights in the house, with the team seeking to learn some basic information about Milntown before carrying out their work.

Aaron detailed some of the equipment the team use while investigating a property.

He said: ’One of the main things we use, which we all carry, is a K2 meter. It’s an electro magnetic field energy detector.

’The idea being that spirits manifest themselves on a different plain of energy, so if you imagine radio signals or WiFi, it is all invisible to the human eye.

’But with this, there are five lights, green to red and if the energy is too strong it goes to red, so we use this to get an environmental baseline and we then monitor it while investigating.’

They also carry out tests of the house, checking for squeaky floorboards, doors that close with a loud noise or any drafts that may affect the house.

And the team also set up cameras to try and capture experiences or movements.

Without spoiling anything ahead of the show going out on Sky later in the year, Pam said the nights were ’fantastic’ with ’activity from the beginning’.

Aaron also confirmed the group want to return to the island, saying ’there is so much here, everywhere has its own myths, so we really want to come back and do even more’.
