Overnight visitors to the Calf of Man will now need to show they have had two Covid-19 vaccine doses, Manx National Heritage and Manx Wildlife Trust have said.

The requirement for those booked to stay the night to have 2+2 vaccination status is intended as a measure to protect the island’s resident wardens, the charities explained.

Those visiting during the day are not affected.

The charities said that it was a ’difficult decision’ and that they regretted if it had impacted anyone’s plans.

It cited the close proximity of guests to the wardens in the living accommodation, and the difficulty of evacuating both wardens from the island should they catch Covid and need medical attention.

The warden’s conservation work would also be disrupted in this event.

Anyone booked to stay overnight has been advised of the changes, and offered the choice of a refund or postponing their booking to next year.
