Two legendary figure of Scottish folk music are returning for a concert in Peel.

Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham are heading back to the Peel Centenary Centre on Thursday, March 23.

The duo are a multi-award winning, critically acclaimed double act who, together and individually, been acclaimed as two of the finest musicians in Scots trad folk music.

Aly Bain has been described as Scotland’s supreme fiddler. He is a founding member of the world-renown folk group ’Boys Of The Lough’, and has played with many great and well known musicians, such as Eddie Reader and Richard Thompson.

Phil Cunningham is a master accordionist, and has been a mainstay of the trad scene for the past four decades.

He has also played with some famous names, such as Midge Ure, James Taylor and Mark Knopfler.

They have recorded and toured together since 1986, and released four albums. Besides the stunning musicianship, their concerts are known for their hilarious banter and onstage charisma, which has been a defining feature of their partnership.

Their last concert in Peel, nearly two years ago, was described by the venue’s director, Dave McLean, as one of the finest they had ever had there.
