After a successful first outing last year, the organisers of Tynwald day are to once again hold the ’Tynwaldfest’ event.

The evening festival takes place through out the afternoon of Tynwald day and, throughout the afternoon and early evening, will feature a line up of music and dancing, alongside the traditional Tynwald day ceili.

The Tynwaldfest marquee will once again be situated on the left of the Tynwald green, and will be home to a range of family and children’s arts and crafts in the morning and early afternoon, which will be run by local community artist Sue Quilliam.

From 3pm, some of the dancers from Gena’s dance academy will put on a spectacular dance show, and there will also be entertainment, juggling, acts of bravery and daring and a good deal of slapstick humour from the visiting street entertainment troupe the Fairly Famous Family.

Music will be provided by the 10-piece soul group Retrospect and the Manx Gaelic folk pop group, the Mollag band, featuring Greg Joughin, with the The Super Manx Ceili Band and the Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums seeing the night out.

The spectacular dancers from Spinning Vannin will also be performing after dark.

This year’s Tynwaldfest has been designated a plastic-free zone, and all materials used, including food packaging and glitter and face-paints will be biodegradeable.
