Readers spotted this unusual funnel cloud - which looks like a mini-tornado - out to sea off the south of this island this afternoon.

A funnel cloud is a rotating column of wind that extends from the base of a cloud but unlike a tornado does not reach the ground or water surface.

The Met Office said they were associated with cumulo-nimbus clouds and become visible due to the presence of water droplets.

Brian Kneale, of Glen Vine, spotted the funnel cloud at 1.55pm today out to sea off Castletown and Terry Liddiard saw it off Port St Mary.
