Police are investigating damage caused to a fence at the Sea Lion Café at Groudle.
Bags of steam coal belonging to Groudle Glen Railway were also taken and burnt on the headland area.
The enthusiasts’ group said on Facebook: ’Whilst it’s been a pleasant and busy day at the railway it was tainted by more attacks from thieves and vandals to the line over the summer holidays.
’Smashing and burning decorative fencing, stealing loco supplies and leaving huge amounts of rubbish. It’s taken a gang of volunteers all day to either tidy up the mess or repair the damage.
’The police have been informed and we hope to identify those behind these attacks. If you have any information please let the police know.’
Anyone who has witnessed the damage being caused or any anti-social behaviour between Wednesday (August 23) and yesterday (Sunday) is urged to contact Constable Scott Fielding on 631212.
