Peel’s viking boat races will take place early this year on Saturday, May 27, starting at 11am.

Crews are made up 10 people and there are categories for men, women and mixed, which must consist of five men and five women.

There will be trophies and prizes in the three categories of £500 for first, £250 for second, and £100 for third, to be donated to a nominated Manx charity.

The races, in association with RL360, will also include categories for veterans (aged 35 and over), newcomers and pub-sponsored teams.

Practices will start on Tuesday, May 9 and entry costs £100 per team. Cheques should be made payable to the Viking Longboat Committee.

A maximum of 70 teams will be accepted.
