Foxdale residents have celebrated the upcoming opening of the village’s Main Road after eight months of roadworks with a street party.
The festivities took place outside the Baltic Inn with a bouncy castle, raffle, food, ice cream van and play area for the children.
A ’Welcome to Foxdul’ banner was hung outside the pub to welcome revellers to the village.
The party was organised by Baltic licensee Judith Cusack who said: ’What a cracking day. It was a great turn out from the village community.’
The long-awaited re-opening of the road is set to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) after the Department of Infrastructure put the finishing touches to the scheme by completing resurfacing work.
Work has taken place to improve drainage, water mains. gas mains and telecom ducting.
The scheme began in October 2016 after the start date was put back seven weeks to accommodate changes to the layout of the Mines Road junction.
The road opened for two weeks during TT but was then closed again to complete the work.
It was scheduled to finish in mid-August but has been completed ahead of schedule.
