Shoppers in Douglas Town Centre enjoyed a variety of entertainment last Saturday courtesy of Lloyds Bank International.
A team of volunteers from the bank joined forces with MCH Psychological Services to raise funds and awareness for the charity, with fun and games in Marks and Spencer, Strand Street and the Strand Centre.
The raffle organised by 13 year- old Lilly Elson took centre stage in M&S, whilst in the street and in the Strand Centre, Spiderman posed for photos with the young and not so young.
Shoppers were treated to music by Roc Vannin Choir and the Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums, conducted by Spiderman, while Vicky and Joyful Henna brought some sparkle and creativity to the day through face painting.
One lucky youngster took home a new friend after she guessed the name of a massive cuddly teddy kindly donated by The Entertainer and many people enjoyed delicious handmade cakes provided by Robinson’s and MCH volunteers.
The day was an excellent opportunity to publicise a new initiative from MCH called Isle Listen - a programme to highlight to young people that taking care of mental health is just as important as physical health.
Jessica Mackie from MCH said: ’We cannot thank the Lloyds volunteers enough for their enthusiasm and commitment in helping MCH/Isle Listen raise funds and awareness.
’We’re also very grateful to M&S, the Strand Centre, Douglas Town Centre Management and everyone else who gave their time and talents to help make the day a huge success.’
Sam Liver, head of charity committee activity for Lloyds, added: ’It’s been a very busy but rewarding time organising and running the flag day and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the charity throughout 2019.
’Lloyds staff are delighted to support such a brilliant, professional organisation doing great work within our community.’
