There is just less than one month left for people to track down the Wallabies Gone Wild sculptures around the Isle of Man, and with such a short time to go we can now reveal details of our big farewell weekend.
The special event, which will be held on the third weekend in September, will be your last opportunity to see the wallabies before they’re gone.
Our beautifully designed wallaby sculptures have taken the Isle of Man by storm this summer and have won the hearts of thousands of fans, from the island and further afield.
The island-wide art trail has been arranged by Hospice Isle of Man in association with Wild in Art, which is a global leader in mass participation public art events.
Latest statistics from the Wallabies Gone Wild app, sponsored by Tevir Group, shows just how popular the trail has been with the total number of wallaby ’unlocks’ reaching over 52,500.
Thousands of copies of our free paper maps have also been collected from our Hospice shops and other outlets.
The trail ends in less than one month’s time, with the last day being Sunday, September 1.
If you don’t manage to visit every wallaby before this time, the farewell weekend is your one final chance to see them all together.
The event will bring together the 26 large wallabies, which were created by both local and international artists, along with the 38 small sculptures that were designed by schools and community groups.
As our large wallabies go up for auction on Thursday, September 26, to raise funds for Hospice Isle of Man, the farewell weekend also presents the perfect opportunity for potential bidders to preview the wallabies.
With two generous time slots per day, people will be able to take time to have a detailed look at the sculptures and their art work, and there’ll be a chance to meet some of the artists whose designs feature on the trail.
The farewell weekend is being held at the picturesque Ballannette Country Park on Ballamenagh Road in Baldrine, which boasts both huge indoor and outdoor spaces.
This brilliant venue has kindly been loaned to us for the event by one of our presenting partners, SCS.
Our big wallaby farewell promises to be a great event with things to do for all the family, including pop-up food outlets, games and craft stalls.
It’s also a last-minute opportunity to get your hands on our wallaby merchandise and buy tickets for our prize draw to win a small wallaby sculpture, which the winner can choose to have designed by one of our selected trail artists or decorate themselves.
The farwell weekend is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 20, 21 and 22, and there will be two time slots each day for tickets.
Prices are £6 per adult and £4 for children, with discounts on additional tickets.
