The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for coastal overtopping.

The forecast:

A bright and breezy today with some sunny spells and generally isolated, sharp showers moving through fairly quickly on the fresh to strong southwest wind. Further coastal overtopping is also expected around the time of high tide (~10:45am). Highest temperature around 10°C.

Showers will continue to affect the island on Tuesday, becoming frequent and heavy at times. Still quite windy with a fresh to strong south to southwest wind and highs of 10°C. Then a spell of rain developing overnight into Wednesday as the wind increases to gale force.

Occasional rain on Wednesday that may be heavy at times clearing to showers later. Strong south or southeast wind, increasing to gale or severe gale for a time with gusts 50-60mph, veering southwest and decreasing later. Top temperature 10°C.
