The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for ice this evening.

The forecast:

With clear skies and light winds a widespread frost will develop this evening as temperatures fall between 0 and -2°C giving a risk of ice forming on any damp untreated surfaces.

However rain will move in from the west during the early hours of tomorrow morning, becoming heavy at times as the wind picks up from the south to become strong, with temperatures recovering quickly and the risk of ice retreating.

Any lingering rain at first tomorrow will quickly clear to leave the morning bright with some sunny spells, although with rain likely to return for a time during the afternoon. Windy with a strong to gale force west to southwest wind and highs of 6 or possibly 7°C.

Some further rain will affect the island at first on Saturday, but this is expected to die away during the morning to leave the afternoon mostly dry and sunny. Breezy with a fresh to strong west to southwest wind and top temperature of 9°C.
