The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for frost, ice and snow.

The forecast:

Cold and cloudy start with frost and ice tending to become patchy, then outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow arriving through the morning. Tending to clear this afternoon but a risk of wintry showers in the evening and overnight. Moderate mainly westerly wind and a top temperature of 5°C.

Into tomorrow, cold and frosty start with potentially icy stretches. Temperatures only slowly recovering through the day, but plenty of sunshine developing. Moderate to fresh north or northeast wind and a maximum temperature of 4°C.

On Saturday a cold and frosty start then some sunny intervals developing. Cloud thickening later. Light mainly westerly wind and a highest temperature of 5°C.

Becoming less cold thereafter with rain around on Monday.
