The Met Office has given yellow weather warnings for heavy rain and coastal overtopping.

The forecast:

Rain and strong to gale force southeast winds at first today, with standing water on the roads, but the rain will move away by dawn leaving bright or clear intervals and only scattered showers for the rest of the day.

Some splash over of waves is likely in places at high tide (about midday), but during the afternoon the winds will swing south or southwest and slowly ease. Maximum temperature 11 Celsius.

Tonight will then be mostly dry, with much of tomorrow dry and bright with sunny intervals. However, rain will arrive during the late afternoon or evening as the southerly winds increase strong.

Rain at times on Friday, with strong to gale force winds.
