The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings.

One is for sleet and snow, the other for coastal overtopping.

The forecast:

Cloudy with spells of rain for much of the day, and falling as sleet or hill snow at first, with a strong to near-gale force southeast wind which will become fresh to strong in the afternoon.

These strong winds leading to some minor coastal overtopping on exposed promenades around high tide this afternoon (2:30pm). Temperatures rising to 6 or 7°C at best.

Cloudy with rain at times on Wednesday. Highest temperature around 7°C with moderate to fresh, locally strong, south or southeast winds.

Cloudy with further outbreaks of rain at times on Thursday, Fresh, locally strong, south or southeast wind and highest temperature around 7°C.
