The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice and sleet and wet snow.
The forecast:
A cold start this morning with temperatures around 3 or 4°C for most but around freezing over higher ground. After a dry and bright start, it will turn cloudy with spells of rain developing during the morning, which could be heavy at times, and is likely to fall as sleet or wet snow over higher ground initially.
Top temperature around 6°C, but feeling much colder in the strong to near gale force northerly wind.
Any showers at first on Saturday will soon clear, leaving a mostly dry and bright day with sunny spells. The strong northeast wind will gradually ease during the day, with highest temperature around 8°C.
A largely dry and bright day for Sunday with some sunny intervals developing at times, light winds and temperatures up to 8°C again.
