Remember this Three Legs of Man flower feature on Queen’s Promenade?

Reader Louis Kelly pointed out to us that he had noticed its recent disappearance - having been grassed over.

Mr Kelly said: ’I’d like to see it returned and I’m sure lots of other people would too’.

The Onchan resident recalled what a nice view it made for tourists and Onchan residents on their way down Summerhill Road, as well as being a focal point close to the horse trams station.

Douglas Council explained that it had been regrassed because as it was a raised bed made of turf, over the years it began to lose height and became difficult to maintain and keep in good order.

It said that the flower feature was also prone to drying out and weed growth.

Mr Kelly said that he does not believe that the bed would not be viable to maintain.

He added: ’I can’t see that.

’If they can maintain all those sunken gardens [on the promenade], surely they can do a round circle.’

’They’ve got professional gardeners {Douglas Council] - the ones that maintain the sunken gardens are absolutely brilliant.’
