It’s not just people that were tucking into their pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
At the Curraghs Wildlife Park, education officer Liz Brunswick decided to make them as a tasty treat for the crab-eating macaques.
She explained that the macaques, native to Southeast Asia, are omnivorous and adaptable in what they eat.
Their diet is mainly fruit and vegetables, but protein and fat is good for them (in moderation, just like humans).
Liz said that such occasional treats, where appropriate to the species, provide variety and fun for the animals.
Meanwhile, the Wildlife Park is holding an open day on Sunday for potential volunteers and Friends to visit, learn about its work and meet staff and current helpers.
Anyone interested in attending should contact Liz Brunswick on [email protected] or 693582 for more information.
The park is currently open Friday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm. It will switch to its summer hours on April 1.
