Coroner John Needham formally opened the inquest into the death of Wendy Dobson, but told the court proceedings would be limited to confirming Miss Dobson’s identity, as well as the time, place and medical cause of her death.
The inquest heard Miss Dobson, who was 62 and lived on Brunswick Road, in Douglas, was admitted to Noble’s Hospital where she died on July 21.
Miss Dobson’s body was viewed by a police representative, who testified there was nothing to suggest the death was not due to natural causes.
The court heard Miss Dobson was admitted to hospital after falling in the shower at home, breaking her ribs. She contracted pneumonia in both lungs and was also suffering from kidney failure, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. Miss Dobson was formally identified using a photograph, the court heard.
Mr Needham offered condolences to Miss Dobson’s friends and family and adjourned the proceedings. The hearing will resume once enquiries are complete.
