The World Tin Bath Championships will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.

On Saturday, July 17, this event will see contenders racing around the harbour in tin baths at Middle Harbour in Castletown.

The day will feature aquatic attractions, including tin bath races, snake races, catwalk stunts, man-powered flying attempts and aerial wire challenges.

Race organiser Boris Kitching said: ’We have worked tirelessly over the last few months to ensure we could go ahead with this milestone event - the fact the we are 50 years old this year is testament to the popularity of the event. It really is a great day out and we hope as many people as possible will come to celebrate with us; it’ll be a great afternoon out for all the family.’

Organised by the Castletown Real Ale Drinkers Society (CADS) the race was started in 1971 and all the money raised by the event goes to local charities.

Roads will close at 3.30pm and the event starts at 5pm.

Entries are still welcome in the flying attempts and the main attraction, the Men’s and Ladies’ World Championships. You can enter on their website.
