Last weekend saw Year of Our Island head to Ramsey for its final event.

On Saturday and Sunday crowds braved the chilly weather to visit the closing ’Festival of Light’ celebrations.

Attendees were treated to illuminations on the lake, a community art lantern trail, LED crazy golf, music and melodies from Ramsey Town Band and the Illumaphonium.

The spectacular interactive Illumaphonium took centre stage at Mooragh Park, captivating visitors with a tantalising mix of light and sound.

Created by musician and inventor Michael Davis, the musical sculpture has been seen as festivals across the UK, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Light Night Liverpool and KAF, and was brought to the island with the help of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Ramsey Town Commissioner chairman Andy Cowie said: ’I would like to thank the Year of Our Island team for the hard work they put in to the setting up of this event.

’The Commissioners were delighted to work with Year of Our Island to bring a number of events to Ramsey.

’We are also looking forward to the installation of a bench at the Dark Skies site in the Mooragh.’

All through 2018, the Year of Our Island programme has worked to showcase and enhance the range of activities available to residents and visitors across the Isle of Man.

From our themed months to partner events, weekly what’s on guides to trail maps the team have worked hard to encourage people to explore more and do more in the Isle of Man, showcasing how much there really is to do on our lovely isle and how it is certainly far from boring!

As the project draws to a close we are looking to people to help provide us with feedback.

We want to find out more about the activities you took part in, the events you attended and the attractions you visited throughout 2018.

The survey, which can be completed online, is anonymous and will run until the start of April 2019.
